OF INFORMATION VERSUS ROLE PLAY AND MODELING

RESULTS
Results on all dependent measures were analyzed using 3 (group) x 2
(posttest/follow-up) split-plot ANOVAs. Each dependent variable was analyzed
separately. Table 1 shows the group means and standard deviations at posttest
and follow-up. There were no significant differences between groups, no
significant differences between posttest and follow-up, and no significant
interaction for any measure. The differences between groups approached
significance for the CUSES, F (2,51) = 3.01, p = .058, with
the role play group obtaining the highest scores. The CUSES is significant
because this measure is most sensitive to the intervention
The Sexual History Questionnaire was analyzed by examining changes from
posttest to follow-up on each individual item using McNemar tests (this
is a special chi-square used for repeated measures). Significant changes
occurred on 4 out of 17 items, as shown in Table 2. The percentages of
participants having sex without discussing condoms first, having sex when
their partner did not use a condom and having sex after drugs or alcohol
all decreased significantly from posttest to follow-up. The percentage
purchasing condoms increased significantly. This information is based on
participant's self-report.
